In a corporate space

people come and go

becoming strangers,

possibly bumping

on busy streets, neglecting

that once they sat side by side

at cubicles, laughing

at jokes with subtexts'

trapped on their bubbles.

The lucky ones assumed enough

to nod at each other

amidst the traffic,

remembering only half

of told stories,

but beaming over

relationships that become

the source of a simple acknowledgement.

I promise to smile at you

when we meet on a common road.
