That Tree Up The Hill

They would say

that love is enough

to inspire you to climb that hill

and reach for that tree

No one can say if that tree is worth it

but you

and you know

that in order to climb it

there is more involved 

that inspiration and

being in love isn't enough

to pull you away from confusion

or that state where the ground is 

comfortably steady

perhaps you need a mentor

an idol you can mirror

someone who can motivate you 

to finally take a brisk walk

jog even if your calves 

aren't that strong yet 

or run
and develop your core

along the way

when no single man can push you hard enough

you can start a family

look at your child's little fingers

and think if you must reach for a better state

take a risk, make bigger sacrifices 

to provide that new life 

some comfortable floors to step on

or you can imagine that tree up the hill

anticipate what's made in store for you

think of the many different kinds 

of fruit it bears

yearn of finally hugging it 

and sharing it's breath

after a long jog uphill

there is a tree in your finish line

and whatever it may become when you reach there

it surely will be something good
